October 7: A Call To Action For Israel, Jews and the World: An Opportunity for Repair and Redemption in the 21st Century

by Gina Ross

Picture
In the aftermath of Hamas’s brutal October 7 massacre, trauma specialist Gina Ross presents a bold and urgent call for moral clarity, national resilience, and global unity. Drawing on decades of experience in healing collective trauma and facilitating interfaith and geopolitical dialogue, Ross argues that the violent resurgence of antisemitism and the West’s confused response to terror represent not only a crisis, but a pivotal opportunity for redemption.
This groundbreaking work traces eight transformative shifts emerging from recent events: the renewed strength of Jewish self-defense, changing dynamics in Arab-Israeli relations, the role of the West and the U.S., the global confrontation with radical Islam, the evolution of interfaith support, the awakening of the Iranian people, geopolitical realignments, and the unraveling of false narratives surrounding the Palestinian issue.
Ross offers not only searing analysis but a path forward—for Jews, Israel, and a world at moral crossroads. A roadmap for healing and courage, October 7 insists that the time to confront trauma, reclaim truth, and stand for justice is now.

What others have said about this book:
Gina Ross provides incisive and unique psychological and geopolitical insights on Israel, Jews and the world today, offering a research-based holistic analysis which we so need in the wake of the atrocities of October 7, 2023. I highly recommend her work to anyone seeking moral clarity, a call to action, meaning, healing and light in our troubled world.

About Gina Ross
Gina Ross, MFCT, is the founder and president of International Trauma-Healing Institutes in the United States and Israel for the last 25 years, and the co-founder of the Israeli Trauma Center at Herzog Hospital in Jerusalem. An internationally known expert on the impact of individual and collective trauma, Gina has specialized in cutting-edge healing methods that can be brought to the public at large.

Gina is a senior faculty member and trainer in Somatic Experiencing (SE) in charge of Israel, for Somatic Experiencing International (SEI). She has trained thousands of therapists in Israel and the US.
Gina developed The Ross Model, applying powerful healing paradigms to heal collective trauma at national levels to create a collective emotional foundation for peace.  Gina is the author of a series of books designed for 10 social sectors that interface with trauma. Her Ross Model is very sought after since October 7, to help sectors such as the military, training soldiers in preventive trauma during battle, first responders, hospital staff and school children.
Gina and her institutes work diligently to place the issue of trauma healing on the global agenda, developing resources and collaborating with organizations to further healing at the individual, community, national, and international levels. Gina focuses her analytical and advocacy work on the collective trauma behind politics, and more specifically the Israeli-Jewish/Palestinian-Arab conflict.

Gina’s personal life story prepared her for this journey. In her own words:
“I recognize the richness of my life as an uprooted child, twice abruptly leaving all that was familiar and going towards the mysterious unknown. My family had run away overnight from two countries in 10 years, leaving behind Syria, our ancestral country, and later Lebanon. After a long stop in Europe, we landed in Brazil, where my siblings and I attended French schools. By the age of 24, I had lived in eight different countries, studied on four different continents, traveled extensively and learned to speak seven languages.  This valuable cross-cultural experience vastly enriched by my languages, my extensive elective travels around the globe and forty years of immersion in the study of trauma and its healing, provided the unique perspective I bring to this subject of global healing.

“My need to reconcile my six different (and at times antagonistic) cultural backgrounds and to understand the oppression of my people, drove me to search for what we and our implacable enemies all had in common and how we could enrich each other’s lives.  I also needed to understand why I had so many and such rabid enemies, and how did some of them start to look at my collective me as a friend, and why now?
“I had completed my psychotherapy studies and had enjoyed enhancing it by years of studies on spiritual counseling for psychotherapists.  But my post-graduate studies opened a whole new vista: unresolved trauma was an impediment to spiritual development. As research revealed trauma’s catastrophic costs to society, I suddenly crashed strongly against the waves of trauma that were submerging our world and cutting people off from their spiritual strength.

“I felt moved to my core. I understood it was not possible to focus only on the path of spirituality when trauma presented such an obstacle to that path. I realized trauma not only devastates the lives of individuals, but of whole nations. I became compelled to understand more and do something about it and this has driven my journey for the last 35 years. The recent tragic events of October 7, the subsequent wars, the resurging explosion of antisemitism worldwide, and my faith of humanity’s potential for healing grounded in my beloved Judaism, mobilized my efforts to synthesize all I had learned and deeply understood about humanity’s cycles, the role of hope and of timing. There was much more understanding in the world, despite all the misinformation, and much more possibilities for the Jewish People to intervene than ever before. Our role in the world, to be of service to humanity and to bring peace has always been clear to me.  The time for action had arrived”
